Riot to supply 191 MW to Anthropic under $9B deal
The 20-year agreement uses Riot’s Rockdale, Texas, campus and follows a separate $19B, 20-year data center lease with TeraWulf.
Cointelegraph reports Anthropic has reportedly signed a $9 billion compute deal with Bitcoin miner Riot Platforms, securing 191 megawatts of capacity from Riot’s Rockdale, Texas, campus.
According to Riot’s Monday press release, the arrangement is set for 20 years and is valued at about $9 billion, with Bloomberg cited as reporting the figure based on people familiar with the matter.
Cointelegraph also notes that Anthropic previously struck a $19 billion deal for a 20-year data center lease with Bitcoin miner TeraWulf on July 6.
Riot’s push into AI and high-performance computing follows a broader trend among Bitcoin miners, and the outlet says Riot shares fell 5.4% on Monday but rose more than 21% in overnight trading, with the stock up more than 53% year to date.
