Trump secretly left Turkey on a smaller aircraft due to Iran threat

The move involved shifting from an Air Force One jet in Ankara to a smaller C-32A that flew him to Britain while other officials were kept unaware.

A report by Agence France-Presse, citing The Washington Post, said US President Donald Trump left Turkey last month on a smaller plane than previously known after an assassination threat linked to Iran.

The outlet said Trump boarded an Air Force One jet in Ankara on July 8, then moved into a catering container attached to the aircraft. The container ferried him to a smaller C-32A aircraft that took him to Britain, while media and some officials believed he was still on the larger jet.

The report also said US media had previously described the Iranian threat as the reason Trump did not depart on the newer Boeing 747-8, gifted to the United States by Qatar, which he had used to fly into Turkey.

It added that although Trump had said at the time he would take the older Boeing 747 so US service members at an airbase in Britain could tour the new plane, several US outlets, including The New York Times, reported that threats from Iranian proxy forces prompted the aircraft switch.
