Arizona Center office tower to be converted into 340-room JW Marriott

The $200 million project is in design and pre-development, with demolition starting in early 2027 and an expected 2029 opening.

LaPour Partners plans to convert Arizona Center, a vacant 19-story office tower in Phoenix, into a 340-room JW Marriott hotel, according to ConnectCRE.

The project, planned for 400 E. Van Buren St., would place the new hotel across the street from the 1,000-room Sheraton Phoenix Downtown and would include amenities such as new restaurants, a resort-style pool, a fitness center, a ballroom, meeting spaces, and a club lounge on upper levels.

ConnectCRE reports the development also calls for about 15,000 square feet of meeting and ballroom space on the upper floors of the tower.

ConnectCRE said the office building has been in decline for 10 to 15 years, and that interior demolition is expected to begin in early 2027, with construction starting later that year and the hotel opening expected in 2029.
