OneShield names Rick Becker senior VP for new product development
The role is newly created and centered on launching AI-native underwriting, claims, and billing capabilities without disrupting customers’ existing systems.
OneShield, a provider of core insurance technology for property and casualty insurers and MGAs, has appointed Rick Becker as its Senior Vice President of New Products, in a role created to bring additional capabilities to customers. The company said the focus will be on product innovation as it expands tools for underwriting, claims, and billing operations.
Coverager reports that Becker brings years of experience leading technology, operations, and product organizations across the P&C insurance industry. His background includes executive roles at DUAL North America, Align Financial Holdings, MAPFRE USA, and AAA Northern California, Nevada & Utah, along with work building digital insurance platforms and scaling complex MGA operations.
In remarks published with the announcement, Becker said the insurance technology sector is at an inflection point as carriers and MGAs move from experimenting with AI to using it inside daily underwriting and claims workflows. OneShield CEO Tony Villa said Becker was hired not to fill a gap, but to raise the bar, citing his long time on the customer side of the industry.
The appointment also comes as OneShield builds a set of AI-native capabilities intended to go into production without disruption to the systems customers already run, according to the company. OneShield said additional announcements will follow as these capabilities become available.
