HIVE delays 10-Q over Swedish VAT assessments despite $79M revenue estimate

The quarter ended June 30 is preliminarily expected to bring about $79.0 million in revenue, but HIVE has not quantified the potential noncash VAT accrual tied to SEK 765.6 million of assessed exposure.

Bitcoin miner HIVE Digital Technologies missed an Aug. 10 deadline to file its Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, and said the delay is tied exclusively to accounting and disclosures for contested Swedish value-added tax assessments.

In a late-filing notice filed Aug. 11, the company said recent developments in the Swedish proceedings increased the likelihood it would record a noncash accrual. HIVE said it needs more time to determine the accounting amount and complete the related financial statements and disclosures, so investors currently have a preliminary top-line revenue figure but no quantified expected losses.

HIVE preliminarily estimated revenue at approximately $79 million, which would be up about 73% from $45.6 million in the prior year, driven mainly by higher Bitcoin rewards from increased hashrate and the start of revenue recognition under a previously announced high-performance computing contract.

The company also pointed to SEK 765.6 million of assessed VAT exposure disclosed in its fiscal 2026 annual filing, noting that figure is not the same as any potential accrual. HIVE said any VAT-related charge would be noncash when recognized and could materially affect operating and net results, but it cannot yet provide reasonable estimates for the loss amounts until the completed 10-Q is filed.
