Shipping data shows the number of vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz fell to a week low on Tuesday, reflecting continued avoidance of the key Middle East chokepoint amid a worsening standoff.

OilPrice, citing Kpler data reported by Reuters, said just eight ships moved in either direction on Tuesday, the lowest count since August 5, and below the latest 10-day average of 12.

Traffic has kept sliding this week as security risks rise and as negotiations appear uncertain, with heightened concerns about when and under what conditions the waterway could reopen.
