Norway’s oil fund posts record $185 billion profit in H1 2026
The Government Pension Fund Global’s H1 2026 profit reached $185 billion, helped by a tech-stock rally, with its value rising to $2.39 trillion as of June 30.
OilPrice reports Norway’s $2.3-trillion Government Pension Fund Global posted a record-high profit of $185 billion for the first half of 2026. The fund is managed by Norges Bank Investment Management, and the results were reported before foreign exchange adjustments.
The outlet says the gains were boosted as Asian technology stocks lifted the portfolio. Norges Bank Investment Management CEO Nicolai Tangen attributed the outcome to strong returns in equities, particularly in Asian tech shares.
According to OilPrice, the fund’s investments returned a record 9.4% in Norwegian crowns for the first half of 2026, up 0.22 percentage points versus the benchmark index. The fund’s value increased to 22.683 trillion crowns, or $2.39 trillion, as of June 30, up by 1.416 trillion crowns, or $149 billion, from the prior level mentioned in the report.
