Root and The Zebra partner to speed up auto insurance quoting
Root said the partnership is tied to its independent agent distribution, which accounted for about 51% of new writings in Q2 2026.
Root Inc. and The Zebra announced a partnership aimed at making auto insurance easier to shop for and buy, with consumers routed to Root’s digital platform to customize coverage and purchase a policy.
Under the deal, The Zebra’s comparison marketplace and reach among high-intent shoppers are intended to connect directly into Root’s quote and coverage workflow, combining Root’s mobile technology, data science, and automation with The Zebra’s quoting experience.
The Zebra’s agents can also generate instant Root quotes from their existing agency management systems and bridge into Root’s Agent Portal, according to the companies.
Root’s Q2 2026 results were also cited in the announcement, including that Root CEO Alex Tim said partnership and independent agent channels represented about 51% of new writings in the quarter, up from about 44% in Q2 2025. Root reported Q2 net income of $25.4 million, up 15% year over year, and the companies framed the collaboration as a way to meet rising expectations for faster, more convenient digital insurance experiences.
