US and allies demand at least 24 hours notice for ballistic launches

The United States and 40 other nations have called for at least 24 hours of advance notice before long-range ballistic missile launches, after a rare Chinese test in the Pacific last month raised concerns about accidents and military miscalculation, according to a joint statement released by the US State Department.
The 41 governments requested advance information for launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles, submarine-launched ballistic missiles, and space launch vehicles, including the general class of missile, the planned launch window, the launch area, and the intended direction.
They also said governments should issue warnings to aircraft and ships about expected impact or landing areas.
SCMP Economy reports the statement warned that conducting nuclear-capable ballistic missile tests without sufficient notice and detail is dangerous, increasing the risk of miscalculation and undermining global stability and security.
