Blast at Rotterdam port storage facility kills one, wounds six

A blast at a storage facility for petroleum products at the Rotterdam port in the Netherlands killed one person and injured six others on Thursday, Reuters reported, citing local officials.
Gunvor, a major energy commodities trading company, said an incident occurred during maintenance work on a storage tank, according to a company spokesperson.
Police said there was no immediate sign of sabotage and that multiple possible causes are being investigated.
Rotterdam, Europe’s largest port, includes oil refineries, liquefied natural gas terminals, and petrochemical facilities, including Shell’s 404,000 barrel per day Pernis plant and refineries operated by BP, ExxonMobil, and Vitol.
