Devon Energy shares slip after Coterra acquisition amid lower crude prices
The stock closed Aug. 12, 2026 at $44.86 per share, and investors are in a wait-and-see stance ahead of Devon's first post-merger earnings release in August.
Devon Energy Corp. shares slid after its Coterra Energy acquisition as crude oil prices declined, according to Yahoo Finance. The outlet cited that investors have grown more cautious on the deal, even as Devon management has expressed optimism about integrating the acquired business.
In the report, Sycamore Mid Cap Value Equity Strategy, which is managed by Sycamore Capital Management, flagged Devon as one of the quarter's top detractors. The letter said DVN came under pressure following the move into the post-acquisition period.
Yahoo Finance also noted that Devon was facing scrutiny until it posts results from the first post-merger earnings release, expected in August 2026. The stock closed Aug. 12, 2026 at $44.86 per share, reflecting a $49.34 billion market capitalization, the outlet said.
The same coverage added that Devon posted a one-month return of 2.56% and gained 30.37% over the past 52 weeks, while the strategy commentary pointed to broader market risks like concentration and the impact of passive investment vehicles.
