Novella appoints Sarah Bourdeau as head of growth
Bourdeau will expand Novella’s independent agent network, which already includes appointed partners representing 10% of independent agents, and grow ties with national retail brokerages.
Novella, an AI-powered wholesale insurance broker, has appointed Sarah Bourdeau as its head of growth, according to Risk & Insurance. The move is intended to strengthen Novella’s distribution push in wholesale insurance.
Risk & Insurance reports that Bourdeau brings more than two decades of experience across insurance distribution, including E&S, programs, and both digital and traditional retail brokered business. She most recently served as head of new partnerships at Obsidian Insurance and previously led distribution at Hiscox USA.
In the new role, Bourdeau will expand Novella’s independent agent distribution network, which the company says already includes appointed partners representing 10% of independent agents. Novella also aims to grow its presence among national retail brokerages.
The appointment follows Novella’s $21 million Series A raise in May. Risk & Insurance also notes broader industry context from CIAB’s Q4 2025 Market Index, citing capacity, competition, and favorable loss ratios across many lines of business.
