Elliott puts forward six nominees in push for Northern Star board changes

Elliott’s board bid follows failed talks with Northern Star over changes after negotiations did not reach agreement.

Activist hedge fund Elliott Investment Management has escalated its campaign against Australian gold producer Northern Star Resources by putting forward six potential directors, according to a report cited by Hedgeweek.

The pressure comes after Elliott and Northern Star failed to agree on board changes during earlier negotiations, the outlet said, prompting Elliott to pursue a more direct board strategy.

The campaign focuses on reshaping Northern Star’s board, with Elliott seeking to use its nominee slate as leverage after talks did not produce an accord, Hedgeweek added.
