Goldman says Japan has capacity for more yen interventions
The firm estimates Japan could carry out another couple of rounds of yen buying on the scale of last month’s intervention, citing available reserves.
Japan has enough reserves to support additional yen interventions, according to Goldman Sachs, as discussed by CNBC Markets and CNBC World.
The bank said Japan’s roughly $1 trillion of reserves leaves what it described as “plenty of capacity” for further yen buying.
Goldman’s assessment implies Japan could run another couple of intervention rounds at a similar scale to the operation conducted last month, based on the cash it has available.
The comments come as investors watch how Japan manages yen strength versus policy and market conditions.
