Javits Center adds Wi-Fi 7 upgrade to attract more conferences

The convention center estimates its 2025 bookings drove more than 100,000 hotel stays in the New York City region.

The Javits Center, the 3.3 million-square-foot convention venue in Manhattan, recently completed a $5 million technology upgrade that brings it the newest wireless network capability, Wi-Fi 7, according to Commercial Observer.

The outlet reports the venue became the first convention center in the U.S. to offer Wi-Fi 7, which debuted last month for Fanatics Fest, and the upgrade is intended to make it more attractive to events that want attendees to be able to remotely connect.

Javits Center CEO Joyce Leveston told Commercial Observer that convention attendees increasingly expect reliable, state-of-the-art connectivity for remote work needs.

Commercial Observer also notes the center’s earlier $1.5 billion expansion, which debuted in May 2021, added 1.2 million square feet, and that the Javits Center estimates 2025 convention bookings generated more than 100,000 hotel stays across the New York City region.
