Port of Seattle backs $2.5B S Concourse renovation at Sea-Tac
Initial funding totals $1.1 billion through 2029, while major construction is slated to start in 2027 and run through 2034.
The Port of Seattle Commission has approved initial funding for a $2.5 billion renovation of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s S Concourse, the commercial real estate outlet ConnectCRE reports.
Commissioners authorized $1.1 billion to fund the project through 2029, with the commission set to consider the remaining costs at a later date.
Major construction is scheduled to begin in 2027 and continue through 2034. The work will modernize the concourse, which opened in 1973 and primarily serves international travelers, and plans include adding 150,000 square feet, new upper concourse level space, expanded dining and retail, additional lounges, and passenger amenities.
ConnectCRE also reports the project is planned in multiple phases over eight years and includes seismic, structural, and building systems upgrades to improve long-term passenger circulation and operational efficiency. AECOM was selected to lead the project, according to the outlet.
