Standard Chartered lifts India FY27 inflation forecast to 4.9%

The bank raised its FY27 food and beverage inflation outlook to 6.3%, citing higher food and retail fuel prices.

Standard Chartered strategists have increased their India FY27 CPI inflation forecast to 4.9%, up from 4.5%, saying the path to disinflation is likely higher than previously expected.

In the update, the firm attributed the change to higher food and retail fuel prices, with broader price pressures expected to persist, excluding gold and silver from its inflation view.

Food and beverage CPI is now projected at 6.3%, and the bank also revised up its quarterly CPI projections for FY27, pointing to food price risks.

Separately, the FXStreet market wrap noted GBP/USD holding around 1.3500 and EUR/USD staying above 1.1500 amid mixed UK and US data and ongoing uncertainty tied to the US-Iran conflict.
