Trezor discloses 14,000-user data exposure via shipping provider

Affected customers who bought Trezor products between May 10 and Aug. 8 could face phishing attempts using their leaked contact details, though Trezor says devices, private keys, and backups remain safe.

Cryptocurrency wallet maker Trezor said a personal-data incident involving its shipping provider, ShipMonk, could expose about 14,000 users to potential phishing attacks, even though the company says its own systems were not compromised. In a blog post, Trezor warned that customers who received products sent via the US, UK, Sweden, Colombia, Brazil, Italy, and Portugal during May 10 to Aug. 8 may be targeted.

Trezor said 11,742 customers could have had their name, physical address, phone number, and email address compromised, while 1,947 users could have had their name, city, and email address breached. The company advised that all Trezor devices, private keys, and backups are safe.

Trezor said affected customers might be targeted with more sophisticated scams that use leaked information to send fake emails, make fake phone calls, send fraudulent letters, and potentially impersonate banks, crypto exchanges, or Trezor itself, according to Cointelegraph.

The disclosure follows other reported incidents in which scammers used personal data to pursue crypto holders. Trezor previously reported in January 2024 that about 66,000 users could have been at risk of phishing attacks if they contacted its support team after December 2021, Cointelegraph reported.
