CRC Specialty hires senior broker for CAT and commercial property desks

Even as property premiums fell 13.7% in 15 stamping states in the first half of 2026, submissions rose nearly 17%, increasing volume pressure on wholesale teams.

CRC Specialty has added a senior broker to expand its ability to place higher-volume commercial property business across hurricane-exposed, or CAT, and non-CAT accounts, as part of a broader wholesale hiring push, according to Insurance Business.

The outlet cites WSIA data showing property premium across 15 stamping office states fell 13.7% in the first half of 2026, while the number of items filed rose almost 17% over the same period. That mix, it said, can squeeze wholesale desks by shifting more submissions onto desks that may not have enough staff, slowing turnaround unless capacity is added.

Zac Landress will be based in Virginia and work across real estate, hospitality, manufacturing, builders risk, inland marine, and single-peril programs, covering both CAT and non-CAT commercial property. The article notes that 2025 had no hurricane landfalls in the US for the first time in a decade, a factor the piece links to CAT-exposed property rates falling between 15.0% and 20.0% last year, based on RPS market data.

Insurance Business also points to record reinsurance capital of $785 billion at the close of 2025, referencing AM Best and Swiss Re reviews, and says the added broker is designed to address underwriting differences that average rate trends can mask. It adds CRC Specialty made two other rounds of additions in 2026, including underwriting team leaders in Tampa and Fresno plus an underwriter in Charlotte in March, and a casualty broker aligned with Philadelphia plus underwriting team leaders in Houston and Minneapolis in April.
