Israel’s Bank Leumi plans to restart Bitcoin trading in early 2027
The bank’s prior Bitcoin effort was halted in 2022 by the Bank of Israel, but a less restrictive regulatory stance and Galaxy’s custody capabilities are intended to support the relaunch.
Decrypt reports that Bank Leumi, described as Israel’s largest bank, plans to restart Bitcoin trading in early 2027.
The outlet says Leumi’s earlier attempt in 2022 ended when it ran into limits from the Bank of Israel.
Decrypt attributes the renewed push to a softer regulatory approach as well as Galaxy’s custody stack, which the bank is expected to use for custody support.
The report frames the move as a second attempt to bring Bitcoin trading back after the earlier effort was stopped.
