Prabowo says Indonesia can still hit 6% growth this year
In an Independence Day address, the president said his government is working to address problems and expects investment to keep rising to support jobs.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said his administration has begun addressing the country’s problems and believes Indonesia can still achieve 6% economic growth by the end of the year, according to SCMP Economy, citing remarks in his Independence Day speech.
Prabowo acknowledged that not all issues have been resolved yet and told parliament, he could not yet say every promise had been fulfilled, while adding that continued investment would help create jobs.
His comments came as Reuters reported falling approval ratings and growing investor skepticism around his ambitious policies, including plans to control commodities exports.
