Steadright granted mining licence for Morocco titanium project
The TitanBeach project approval covers about 16 square kilometres and follows 2025 exploration showing sands with up to 79.5% Fe2O3 and 14.9% TiO2.
Steadright Critical Minerals said it has been granted a mining licence for its TitanBeach titanium project in Morocco, a step the company called a first for the scale of the designated area covered by the approval.
The company said exploration at the 192 sq/km TitanBeach project in 2025 identified sands potentially bearing ilmenite, titanomagnetite, magnetite, leucoxene and rutile, with iron oxide (Fe2O3) values up to 79.5% and titanium dioxide (TiO2) as high as 14.9%.
Steadright said titanium is considered a critical mineral by the US, EU and Canada due to its role in defense, aerospace, medical and industrial technologies, and that it is used both as TiO2 for pigments and as titanium metal for alloyed aerospace applications.
The licence was granted by Moroccan authorities through NSM Capital Sarl, in which Steadright holds a 76.5% stake, and the approved project area is about 4 kilometres by 4 kilometres, or roughly 16 square kilometres, according to the company.
