Goldman in talks to back Nvidia's $500 billion AI financing initiative

Nvidia’s Aug. 10 plan targets over $500 billion in third-party capital, with U.S. insurers, money managers and banks expected to be key investors.

Goldman Sachs is discussing with potential investors joining Nvidia’s initiative to raise more than $500 billion in third-party capital for AI computing infrastructure, according to people familiar with the matter cited by Reuters.

Nvidia, which announced the plan on Aug. 10, said it partnered with six major financial institutions to launch compute platforms designed to draw capital for AI data centers as demand for graphics processing and related capacity accelerates.

Reuters reports that Goldman could help provide junior capital and private credit financing through its asset management arm, while its investment bank may also support placement of the debt into private credit funds and eventually public debt markets.

The sources also say Goldman has held discussions with a wide range of investor types about deal structures, and that the bank’s central role as sole lender, alongside firms such as Blackstone and Apollo, reflects years of ties with Nvidia that include advising on prior transactions and financing deals.
