Hong Kong Disneyland to debut exclusive Pixar live show in 2027
The new Toy Story Land theatre is slated to open in the first half of 2027, with the storyline centered on Poppy, a Hong Kong plush toy.
Hong Kong Disneyland is collaborating with Pixar Animation Studios on a city-exclusive live theatrical experience built around a home-grown character that the resort’s concept art hints could be a pangolin. The park announced the project Sunday as part of plans for a large new theatre space at Toy Story Land.
The venue is expected to be unveiled in the first half of 2027, with the theatrical experience exclusive to Hong Kong. SCMP Economy said Disney Live Entertainment’s Michael Serna described the production as an emotional adventure that explores how meaningful friendships are built, nurtured, and celebrated over time.
The show’s storyline follows Poppy, a plush toy from Hong Kong, as she settles into a new community with her owner, Aria. The announcement says audiences will be able to spot nods to growing up in the city through Aria’s keepsakes and memories, including Chinese chess pieces, a rattle drum, and local treats such as egg tarts.
