Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon kill at least 11 amid truce test
The attacks were the deadliest since the Israel-Hezbollah truce began June 20, with the second strike in Deir al-Zahrani killing four and wounding 17.
Israeli air strikes on southern Lebanon killed at least 11 people on Saturday, marking the deadliest attacks since a truce between Israel and Hezbollah went into effect on June 20, according to SCMP Economy citing Lebanon health officials and state news reporting.
Lebanon’s health ministry said one strike targeted a home on the edge of Ansar village, killing seven people including three children, and wounding two.
A second strike hit the village of Deir al-Zahrani, killing four people and wounding 17.
The outlet also noted that Israel and the Lebanese government announced a “framework agreement” on June 26 covering an Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon in exchange for Hezbollah’s disarmament, and that Prime Minister Nawaf Salam criticized the strikes for intimidating residents and undermining efforts to stabilize the situation.
