Harvard pauses bitcoin ETF sales, holding 3.0 million IBIT shares in Q2

The endowment kept its IBIT position unchanged at 3,044,612 shares as of June 30, after cutting it 43.0% in the prior quarter and seeing the value fall with IBIT’s price decline.

Harvard University’s endowment paused selling shares in BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, or IBIT, in the second quarter, according to its latest 13F filing cited by The Block.

The filing shows Harvard Management Company reported 3,044,612 IBIT shares as of June 30, unchanged from the prior quarter. The endowment previously cut the position to 5,353,612 shares in the fourth quarter of 2025 from 6,813,612 shares at the end of September 2025, then reduced it further to 3,044,612 shares in the first quarter of 2026.

The Block reports the position’s value declined by $15.6 million during the quarter, tracking IBIT’s fall in price. Harvard previously cut its holdings again from the first quarter, before ending two straight quarters of selling.

Other reported IBIT holders in the filing included UAE-based Mubadala Investment Company and the Abu Dhabi Investment Council, which retained a combined 22.9 million IBIT shares, while Tudor Investment Corporation increased its IBIT shares by 109,446 to 688,529 and JPMorgan raised its position to about 10.4 million shares. Morgan Stanley’s reported IBIT holdings fell 4.5% to roughly 16.5 million shares.
