Aon rolls out Sidecar X platform with up to $200m capacity

The platform is designed to streamline underwriting and claims using pre-arranged frameworks and offers a 10% premium discount.

Aon has launched Sidecar X, an expansion of its Sidecar platform aimed at connecting insurance capital with complex transactional risks. The firm says the Global Sidecar Platform can provide up to $200 million in capacity and covers tax insurance as well as representations and warranties products.

Sidecar X is built with pre-arranged underwriting and claims frameworks to streamline deal execution, while delivering a 10% premium discount, according to Aon. The broker said the move responds to a market where transactions are getting larger and more complex and where insurers and capital providers are becoming more selective amid changing conditions.

Aon said Sidecar X combines insurer capital with its proprietary analytics and global market expertise, offering dedicated, pre-agreed capacity and more differentiated outcomes for clients across mergers and acquisitions and tax products globally. The platform is available exclusively to Aon in regions including the US, Canada, the UK, the EEA, and Asia, for representations and warranties and tax insurance products.

Aon CEO of Commercial Risk Christian Hoffmann said the company expects clients to need clearer solutions as transaction risks grow more complex. Aon also said participating insurers and reinsurers get an analytics-led approach intended to support more informed underwriting decisions and scalable capital deployment.
