Ethereum developers weigh Frame Transactions for 2027 Hegotá upgrade
Frame Transactions, along with related proposals Keyed Nonces and EIP-8272, would aim to cut reliance on outside infrastructure for private payments while keeping standard ETH transfers transparent.
Ethereum developers are narrowing the scope for the 2027 Hegotá upgrade, with one focus on a privacy-related package that includes Frame Transactions, an approach intended to make private payments easier to build inside the Ethereum network rather than through external middlemen, according to CoinDesk.
The proposal centers on Frame Transactions, EIP-8141, which would let an account define how transactions are approved, executed and paid for, instead of requiring every user to follow the same setup. CoinDesk reports that the package would include Keyed Nonces and EIP-8272, with the goal of reducing the outside infrastructure needed for private payment workflows while leaving ordinary ETH transfers transparent.
CoinDesk notes that only one change related to Hegotá has been approved so far, a censorship-related measure called FOCIL. Core developers are expected to decide in upcoming meetings which of the remaining 66 proposals move forward toward implementation, devnets, testnets and a realistic chance of shipping in 2027.
