Ferrari Luce EV auctioned for about $40 million

The auction arrives about three months after Ferrari unveiled the Luce, priced at 550,000 euros (about $640,000) at launch.

An auction of Ferrari’s first fully electric car, the Luce, has turned the polarizing EV into a high priced collectible, with the winning bid valuing the vehicle at about $40 million, according to CNBC Markets.

The auction comes nearly three months after Ferrari unveiled the Luce, which was originally priced at 550,000 euros, or roughly $640,000.

CNBC World also tied the sale to the recent launch timing, noting the auction is just under three months after Ferrari’s debut of the car.
