Opatra London starts independent review after HK distributor sales allegations
The UK beauty chain said Hong Kong outlets are independently owned and that the distributor handled staff, pricing, contracts, and refunds.
Opatra London, a UK-based beauty chain, has distanced itself from a Hong Kong distributor accused of using deceptive sales practices, and it has launched an independent review of the local distributor. The company said it would handle the matter with utmost seriousness and expressed regret if any customer had a distressing experience associated with its brand, according to SCMP Economy.
The review follows growing accusations tied to allegations that the distributor duped a woman into paying more than HK$60,000 for beauty products at a branch in Sha Tin. A local branch had said it offered to refund about a quarter of the HK$60,000 shopping bill on skincare products, the outlet added.
Opatra London also said its Hong Kong outlets are independently owned and operated by a local company under a distribution agreement. The company stated that the independent distributor is solely responsible for its staff, sales practices, pricing, customer contracts, and refunds.
