Pregnant woman among three killed in suspected drug-linked shooting in Spain
Authorities in Andalusia said two other people were injured and the attack is being investigated as possible retaliation tied to a 2024 case.
A suspected revenge attack linked to Spain’s drug trade left three people dead in Isla Cristina in southwestern Andalusia, according to authorities cited by SCMP Economy and dpa.
The victims included a woman in her eighth month of pregnancy, a 62-year-old woman, and a 16-year-old boy, and investigators said the unborn child also died. Authorities added that two other people were injured.
SCMP Economy reported that two masked perpetrators approached the victims on a motorcycle late on Sunday and fired numerous shots, leaving the victims unable to be revived by rescuers. The Guardia Civil police unit has launched an investigation.
Local officials described the scene as horrific, with numerous shell casings found around the victims, and urged no further retaliation. The regional premier called the attack intolerable and said drug trafficking must not operate freely in Andalusia.
