Typhoon Rose capsizes Hong Kong-Macao ferry Fatshan, 88 feared dead

The ferry overturned off Lantao during Typhoon Rose on August 17, with four survivors and four bodies recovered at the time.

A Hong Kong-Macao ferry, the mv Fatshan, capsized off Lantao during Typhoon Rose on August 17, and a large but undetermined portion of the crew, including the master and senior British officers, was feared drowned, according to SCMP Economy.

At the time of the report, four survivors had been picked up and four bodies had been recovered, while the fate of the rest of the crew remained unclear.

The Hong Kong governor, Sir David Trench, expressed sympathy to the families of those killed and injured, including relatives of people who died in the sinking of the mv Fatshan, in a message from Government House.
