Jane Street holds nearly $1B in Bitcoin through spot ETFs
The firm’s filing shows $828 million in BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF, with total spot-ETF exposure totaling $990 million.
Jane Street, a quantitative trading firm and liquidity provider, holds nearly $1 billion of Bitcoin exposure through spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing summarized by Bitcoin Magazine.
The filing puts Jane Street’s spot Bitcoin ETF holdings at $990 million, representing 15,394 BTC at then-current prices, with the majority of the position invested in BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust.
Bitcoin Magazine also notes that the spot Bitcoin ETFs Jane Street uses were approved and began trading at the start of 2024, and that BlackRock’s fund has $47.3 billion in assets under management.
Separately, the outlet says Jane Street posted its first losing month in about a decade, with roughly $15 billion in July losses, driven mainly by issues at its AI-focused hedge fund and bad bets in Asian equity markets.
