Starwind Specialty Insurance Services, a CRC Group company focused on specialty insurance underwriting, has appointed Ashley Orth as its new chief operating officer, adding to the senior leadership team as the business expands its specialist underwriting operations.

Orth will oversee the company’s operational strategy and implementation, with an emphasis on supporting growth of its underwriting businesses and strengthening its wider operating structure, according to the appointment details.

The company said Orth brings nearly two decades of experience across the insurance sector, spanning underwriting, operational management, and executive leadership, including work related to underwriting operations, programme development, reinsurance strategy, governance, and operational transformation.

Starwind Specialty’s leadership linked the hire to scaling its platform while maintaining disciplined underwriting practices, and highlighted Orth’s experience developing operating models, enhancing underwriting performance, and establishing processes intended to support sustainable and profitable growth.
