Wawanesa Insurance rebrands as W Insurance Company

The branding change follows Wawanesa Insurance’s 2024 acquisition by an insurer affiliated with the Automobile Club of Southern California.

Wawanesa Insurance has changed its name to W Insurance Company, following its 2024 acquisition by an insurer affiliated with the Automobile Club of Southern California, according to Coverager.

The San Diego-based carrier serves more than 300,000 policies in California and sells auto, homeowners, condo, and renters insurance directly to consumers.

Coverager reports the rebranding is limited to the company’s name, with coverage, premiums, policy terms, discounts, and claims handling expected to remain unchanged.

Existing insurance cards will remain valid through their expiration dates, and the company said the new name is intended to modernize its brand while keeping its service focus, citing comments from W Insurance President Chris Henn.
