Major theater chains back Paramount-Warner merger despite state concerns

The planned deal is valued at $111 billion and has the three biggest U.S. theater companies aligned behind it, even as states argue it could harm them.

The three largest U.S. movie theater operators have lined up in support of David Ellison’s proposed merger of Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, a combination states say would hurt theaters and local markets, according to NYT Business.

NYT Business reports the transaction is priced at $111 billion and centers on the theater industry’s position as regulators and state officials raise concerns about the impact of the tie-up.
