W. R. Berkley creates Berkley Meridian by merging Verus and Vela
Berkley Meridian will target the E&S wholesale market, and integration is expected to run into early 2027.
W. R. Berkley has formed Berkley Meridian by combining Verus Specialty Insurance and Vela Insurance Services under a shared leadership structure, according to Coverager.
The new specialty business will serve the E&S wholesale market across construction, professional liability, garage, casualty and other specialty lines, with integration underway and expected to continue into early 2027.
Marlo Morrison, president of Verus since 2019, will lead Berkley Meridian as president. Coverager also notes she has nearly 30 years of property and casualty insurance experience.
Coverager adds that W. R. Berkley’s broader operations include Berkley North Pacific, which provides commercial insurance solutions through independent agents across Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah and Washington, and Berkley Environmental, which offers environmental risk coverage through a regional model.
