Amazon to build nearly 1.2M SF distribution facility in Aurora

The project will also include a compressed natural gas fueling station, with the site purchased in 2022 for nearly $10.3M.

Amazon is building a nearly 1.2 million square foot distribution facility in Aurora, Colorado, according to Bisnow, citing the city’s active development map.

The facility will be located on 58 acres near the intersection of East Stephen D. Hogan Parkway and East Sixth Avenue, about 12 miles south of Denver International Airport. Bisnow reports the site is also under two miles southeast of an existing Amazon fulfillment center.

Amazon’s new Aurora site will function as both a distribution hub and a compressed natural gas fueling station, Bisnow reports, quoting Amazon Field Communications Specialist Nissa LaPoint. LaPoint also said Amazon has a continuing relationship with the City of Aurora and that the property fits the facility design, while declining to comment on the construction timeline.

The land is owned by a Kansas City, Missouri-based LLC with ties to NorthPoint Development, Bisnow reports. Arapahoe County documents cited by Bisnow say the entity bought the full 70-acre property in 2022 for nearly $10.3M, and the development is part of the Stafford Logistics Center, an approximately 366-acre mixed-use business and technology district slated for growth.
