Baron Focused Growth Fund gains 13.26% in Q2 2026
The fund said its results lagged the Russell 2500 Growth Index’s 24.02% return amid AI-related concerns and lighter exposure to AI infrastructure.
Baron Focused Growth Fund reported a 13.26% gain in Q2 2026, but it trailed the Russell 2500 Growth Index, which returned 24.02% over the same period, according to the fund’s Q2 2026 investor letter highlighted by Yahoo Finance.
The outlet said the underperformance reflected ongoing concerns about how AI could affect portfolio companies, as well as perceived underexposure to AI infrastructure. Baron also pointed to a boost from the IPO of SpaceX, while adding that its holdings were still driving robust revenue growth and strengthening margins through enhanced client engagement and product offerings.
Baron said many stocks remain historically undervalued and that companies are beginning accelerated share repurchases, which it framed as supporting investor confidence. The letter also characterized the fund’s longer-term approach as research-driven, noting it has outperformed its benchmark over the past 3, 5, and 10 years with lower market risk.
Within the fund, Yahoo Finance said Interactive Brokers Group (NASDAQ:IBKR) was discussed in the letter and contributed 1.12% to performance this quarter. It also cited that on August 19, 2026, IBKR closed at $90.54 per share, for a market capitalization of $154.26 billion, while the shares were down 1.33% over one month and up 44.93% over 52 weeks.
