Bitcoin and Ethereum jump on Treasury buybacks and renewed crypto policy
Bitcoin is up more than 14% this week and Ethereum about 22%, with markets focusing on the CLARITY Act vote timeline in the Senate and political momentum for onchain derivatives.
Bitcoin and Ethereum have risen sharply over the past week, with Bitcoin gaining more than 14% and Ethereum climbing roughly 22%, as falling long-duration Treasury yields interact with a separate U.S. policy push for crypto, according to Action Forex.
The initial catalyst in the move was linked to Treasury buybacks and the sharp fall in longer-term Treasury yields, but Action Forex says President Donald Trump’s renewed attention is helping drive a more crypto-specific acceleration beyond a broad risk-on rebound.
Action Forex reports Trump’s Wednesday White House meeting with major crypto executives produced multiple developments markets are now weighing, including support for the CLARITY Act, which Trump described as structured legislation and said could open the door to the next wave of innovations. The outlet notes the bill faces a concrete hurdle, needing 60 Senate votes in a window next month, and that White House pressure has elevated its market significance.
Action Forex also says Trump signaled support aimed at bringing Hyperliquid into the United States in a fully compliant fashion, following which Hyperliquid reportedly jumped about 20% over 24 hours. The outlet adds that while CFTC Chair Mike Selig has pointed to regulatory work around onchain perpetuals, the push is not yet an approved framework and a policy fight remains.
