Bitcoin jumps toward $72,300 as Clarity Act hopes intensify

OKX Europe CEO Erald Ghoos linked the surge to renewed political momentum for a U.S. crypto-market structure bill, while also pointing to possible EU post-MiCA consolidation and a shift of capital back into digital assets.

Bitcoin surged to around $72,300, breaking out of a weeks-long trading range as renewed political support in the United States for a crypto-market structure bill helped lift prices, according to CoinDesk. OKX Europe CEO Erald Ghoos said the passage of the Clarity Act would raise trust and crypto enthusiasm by adding regulatory clarity in the U.S., and he framed the rally alongside growing institutional interest and a rotation of capital back from AI and semiconductor stocks into digital assets.

Ghoos also highlighted Europe’s MiCA regime as a driver of broader adoption, arguing that stricter rules can support mass market growth, and he flagged a potential resurgence in retail trading. In the EU, he said digital asset platforms may consolidate after MiCA.

CoinDesk also noted a counterpoint from OKX global managing partner Haider Rafique, who said regulatory optimism tied to Clarity is already reflected in current bitcoin prices. Ghoos further predicted that about 80% of crypto exchanges would not survive MiCA in June, citing the cost and complexity of compliance, and pointed to a drop from more than 3,000 registered providers before MiCA to about 244 firms authorized under the regime as of late June.
