BSE explores MSCI index futures and options linked to benchmarks

The exchange said MSCI indexes underpin more than USD 21 trillion in assets under management as of Dec. 31, 2025, as it looks to boost hedging and access to Indian equities.

The Bombay Stock Exchange, or BSE, said it has entered into an agreement with MSCI covering several indices and plans to explore launching futures and options contracts in India linked to those benchmarks, according to LiveMint Markets.

BSE said the collaboration is expected to strengthen its role in developing India’s capital markets, pointing to rising demand for index futures and options as more capital is benchmarked to indices and as index-linked products become more tradable through ETFs.

The exchange linked the push for derivatives to the ability of fund managers to manage fund flows and adjust equity exposure more efficiently, and described MSCI indexes as among the most widely followed benchmarks globally.

BSE also reiterated its recent financial performance, reporting a 62% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit attributable to shareholders for the quarter ended June 2026, to ₹ 874 crore from ₹ 539 crore the prior year, alongside revenue from operations growth to ₹ 1,566 crore from ₹ 958 crore.
