White Rose Partners seeks approval for data center on 37-acre site in Prosper
The developer, known as Project Tomahawk, is proposing a single building that would use less than 20% of the property and says it would invest hundreds of millions of dollars to support Prosper’s tax base.
White Rose Partners, a Dallas-based developer, is seeking permission to build a data center in Prosper on a 37-acre property near the intersection of FM 1385 and Parvin Road, calling the proposal Project Tomahawk. The plan is for one building that would occupy less than 20% of the site, according to information posted by the developer.
Prosper officials initially placed the project on the agenda for the Aug. 18 planning and zoning commission meeting, then removed it to gather more information and review the proposal, the Dallas Morning News reported. Even without an appearance on the agenda Tuesday, the project drew pushback during the meeting.
A Prosper resident, Aileen Blachowski, said residents should not change the property’s zoning and argued the site is too small for a data center. Blachowski also said a bipartisan coalition of precincts has opposed the project and described concerns about impacts on neighboring residents.
White Rose Partners Managing Partner Jeff Eigenbrood said the data center has been designed to minimize effects on surrounding properties. On the project website, the firm says it plans a total investment of hundreds of millions of dollars to boost the tax base for Prosper, Denton County, and the local school district, and it would not need new substation or transmission lines because the site is adjacent to the Brazos Electric Parvin Substation. The proposal also includes a planned 65-decibel noise limit and plans to connect to Prosper’s water system, with the website stating the data center would use around 300 gallons of water.
