Bitcoin briefly tops $79,500 as spot BTC ETF inflows accelerate
Spot bitcoin ETFs brought in $606 million on Aug. 20, while ether funds added $221 million, both above the prior day.
Bitcoin surged more than 6% in the past 24 hours, briefly topping $79,500 before easing back below $78,000, according to CoinDesk’s live market updates.
CoinDesk reported that the rally also lifted crypto-linked equities, with Strategy (MSTR) up 10%, Coinbase up 6%, and MARA Holdings gaining 6%, while Galaxy Digital rose 5%.
The broader move was reinforced by ETF activity, with spot bitcoin ETFs pulling in $606 million on Aug. 20, and ether funds recording $221 million, both described as higher than the prior day.
CoinDesk also noted analysts characterizing recent price action as the kind of pattern that can mark market turning points, adding that the ETF flows and follow through are key factors to watch going into the next week.
