Bitcoin gains as macro investor says fast money has been washed out
The comments followed a week where Bitcoin rose more than 6% in 24 hours to around $72,660, with attention on the planned Clarity Act crypto market structure bill.
Bitcoin rose sharply this week as macro author Lyn Alden said “fast money” appears to be washed out, suggesting new buyers could be entering the market even though she does not believe Bitcoin is fully out of the woods yet, according to Bitcoin Magazine.
Alden, speaking in a Thursday interview with CNBC, said there are “not a lot of downside catalysts” left, and that market observers are not expecting additional “Bitcoin treasury Strategy” selling. She also argued that by multiple metrics, Bitcoin is near the low end of its valuation and sentiment range.
Bitcoin was recently trading around $72,660, up more than 6% over 24 hours, after reaching $72,890 earlier on Thursday. The article links the move to momentum around policy, noting President Trump met with crypto executives and urged lawmakers to pass the long-awaited Clarity Act.
The piece says the Clarity Act passed the House last year but has been largely stalled this year, with hopes for an August vote shifting to September. It also notes Bitcoin set a record of $126,080 in October, and has been in a bear market in 2026 amid a pivot toward AI-related tech stocks and Federal Reserve hints that rates may stay higher longer.
