Circle targets Sept. 16 for Arc public mainnet launch
Arc public mainnet would let developers deploy contracts and transact without approval, while validation stays limited to a named permissioned validator set.
Circle says its Arc network is on track for a Sept. 16 public mainnet launch that would open the production blockchain for users and applications, while keeping block production within a permissioned validator group, according to The Defiant.
Circle also said Arc has already scaled activity on its public testnet, citing more than half a billion testnet transactions, nearly 3 million wallets, and more than 100 partners active on its private mainnet. Its publicly named initial validator cohort includes Circle plus 11 founding validators: BlackRock, DTCC, Galaxy, Global Payments, ICE, Mastercard, MoneyGram, SBI Group, Standard Chartered, Sumitomo Corporation, and Visa.
The network is described as using permissioned proof-of-authority consensus, with a rotating validator proposing blocks and more than two-thirds of validators required to commit each block. Circle said transaction fees on Arc are denominated in USDC, and the chain is compatible with Ethereum’s application environment.
Arc documentation, as summarized by The Defiant, says the public mainnet is open for contract deployment and transaction submission without approval, but validation remains restricted to known institutions. The Defiant notes that the testnet transaction and wallet counts reflect activity in an environment without real assets, and Circle expects a range of day-one apps and services, including a Uniswap integration described as ready for launch day.
