Mike Weinbach becomes CEO of Radian, succeeding Rick Thornberry
Thornberry will remain with the company as a strategic advisor until his retirement on December 31, 2026, as Radian pursues its specialty insurer strategy after the Feb. 2, 2026 acquisition of Inigo Limited.
Mike Weinbach has officially assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer at Radian and joined the company’s Board of Directors, succeeding Rick Thornberry.
Radian said Thornberry will serve as a strategic advisor through his retirement on December 31, 2026. The planned transition was first announced on May 21, 2026, when Weinbach was named CEO-elect.
Reinsurance News reports Weinbach’s move comes as Radian advances its position as a global, multi-line specialty insurer, following the completion of its acquisition of Lloyd’s specialty insurer Inigo Limited on February 2, 2026.
The company also said it is pairing its Mortgage and Specialty Insurance operations to support long-term value generation, and it cited Weinbach’s prior leadership experience, including serving as President of Mr. Cooper Group.
