Nigeria targets up to $50 billion in new offshore oil investment

The NUPRC said Nigeria will need more skilled workers, including in digital industries, to support the offshore expansion.

Nigeria is seeking to attract a major wave of new spending in offshore oil and gas, with the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission pointing to the potential for $50 billion in new investment.

According to OilPrice, the commission linked the expected offshore boom to newly introduced incentives for offshore projects.

The outlet also reported that Nigeria faces a constraint in the form of a need for upskilled and additional workers, including for roles tied to digital industries, to fully capitalize on the new opportunities.
