Skyward names Taryn McHarg as CFO successor amid Apollo integration
Skyward’s $559 million Apollo acquisition closed on January 1, 2026, and Apollo is driving much of the group’s premium growth while the combined unit reports a 89.5% combined ratio.
Insurance Business reports that Skyward Group has appointed Taryn McHarg as successor to outgoing CFO Mark Haushill. McHarg is currently CFO of Skyward’s recently acquired Apollo business and the group’s deputy CFO, while Haushill is set to retire effective March 31, 2027 after more than a decade at the company.
The new CFO appointment keeps financial leadership internal as Skyward works through integrated reporting for the first full quarters of the combined group. Skyward closed its $559 million acquisition of Apollo, a Lloyd’s of London specialty platform, on January 1, and has since combined both businesses under the Skyward Group holding structure.
According to Insurance Business, Skyward posted pro forma gross written premiums of $740.6 million in the second quarter of 2026, up 13.3%, with Apollo contributing much of the increase. The group reported a combined ratio of 89.5%.
Insurance Business also notes that before joining Apollo more than four years ago, McHarg previously served as CFO of BUPA’s international markets division and earlier held roles at Ernst & Young. Haushill will remain as a senior advisor through the end of 2027 to support the transition, and Skyward said the handover is designed to provide continuity for brokers placing E&S and specialty business with Skyward Specialty or through Apollo’s Lloyd’s syndicates.
