Welspun Corp shares surge as profit jumps and order book hits record

In the June quarter, the company reported net profit of ₹1,047.9 crore, while its order book reached ₹42,100 crore and a new roughly $1.8 billion order lifted shares more than 14% on Aug. 21.

Welspun Corp shares have climbed nearly 186% year to date in 2026, as investors point to stronger growth prospects in the United States and Saudi Arabia, along with improving quarterly results and a record backlog, according to LiveMint Markets.

The company reported consolidated net profit of ₹1,047.88 crore in the June quarter, nearly tripling versus ₹349.16 crore in Q1 FY26. Total income rose to ₹4,144.91 crore in Q1 FY27 from ₹3,586.52 crore a year earlier, and Welspun posted its highest-ever quarterly EBITDA of ₹692 crore, up 31.9% year over year. EBITDA margin expanded by about 220 basis points year over year to 17%.

LiveMint Markets said the strength is also tied to visibility from a record order book of ₹42,100 crore. The backlog is described as split with 25:75 exposure between data centre and LNG projects, and analysts cited capacity that is largely booked through FY28, with demand increasingly supported by data centre related infrastructure.

The positive outlook received a further boost on Friday, Aug. 21, when shares jumped more than 14% after Welspun announced its largest-ever single order, valued at around $1.8 billion, or ₹17,200 crore. The contract, disclosed in a regulatory filing, involves supplying pipes from Welspun's US manufacturing facility and is set for execution in FY28 and FY29, taking the company's global order book to a record $4.4.
